| Chevelon Creek flows in a south to north direction to Winslow, Arizona where it joins the Little Colorado River. the Little Colorado continues northwest above Flagstaff. There are many Anasazi petroglyphs and Sinagua petroglyphs located along this section of Chevelon Creek, and just a few miles north of this site are the famous Homol'ovi Ruins. Homol'ovi is an early pre Hopi Culture site that has yielded much regional archaeological information for the period 1200 -1400. The photos shown here are from a single site south of I-40. No masonry wall ruins were observed in the immediate vicinity, but pithouse ruins were noted. Next 8 photos. | |
